Antique Victorian Traveling Toilet Set contained in its original leather-covered box; an upper tray fitted with four various sized rectangular hinged silvergilt boxes with the tops and sides engraved with engine-turned decoration, two rectangular glass flasks with similarly decorated silvergilt cylindrical collars and hinged caps, and a similarly decorated cylindrical silvergilt shaving brush housing; the lower tray fitted with seven tortoiseshell handled pieces including two razors, a nail file, an awl, a button hook, a very small corkscrew, and a knife (some pieces with gold trim), a two part small steel corkscrew, a gilt metal corkscrew, and an 18k gold earwax remover / tweezers; an interior bottom flap with spring to hold flat papers; the hinged cover housing a detachable easel mirror. The gold earwax remover / tweezers and silvergilt boxes and flasks marked by Thomas Diller at London in 1845/46, the steel blades of the razors and nail files marked by Edwards, the steel blades on the knife marked by Asprey, and the case lock marked by J. Bramah of 124 Picadilly. No monos. | The case 3.38" high, 9.75" long, 5.62" wide, the leather chipped with a very large piece missing from the backside. Box sizes are 6.12" x 1.12" x 1.12", 3.25" x 1.12" x 2.0", 3.12" x 1.12" x 1.25" (2); Flasks are 4.38" x 1.12" x 1.0"; Shaving Brush housing (missing fittings) is 3.06" x 0.88" diameter; the fitted lower tray missing two scissors, several of the tortoiseshell handles missing small pieces. | $ 1,500. | |
